Scouring the foodie scene in Northeast Florida, host Caron has a true hunger for finding enjoyable, diverse and delicious eats. Traveling across the United States and Europe, she’s tasted her way through many outstanding culinary cities (and runs marathons to counterbalance all of these tastes). Her passion is finding unique establishments across town, and sharing the knowledge of these local spots and their specialties with like-minded food enthusiasts. She encourages everyone to taste new foods, and visit a variety of establishments, whether they’re hole-in-the-wall spots in a strip mall - often these prove to be the hidden gems of the culinary world - or tucked away in a random neighborhood or backyard. In Jacksonville for 11 years, she’s been to 150+ spots and has a lengthy list of more to try. You can find her at various restaurant openings and charity food events and fundraisers.

Host Caron’s favorite foods and ingredients include scallops, shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, asparagus, polenta, grits, smoked gouda, spinach, artichokes, prosciutto, heirloom tomatoes, macadamia nuts, cashews, garbanzo beans, fresh mozzarella, watermelon, papaya, blueberries, avocado, carrot cake, tiramasu, and sushi. She has a fondness for sauces and is willing to try anything.

Most adventurous eats: (cow’s) tongue, escargot, foie gras

Least favorite food? hamburgers, cherries/cherry-flavored things, cold ketchup

Favorite meal of the day: dinner

Favorite pizza topping: salami, mushrooms, ricotta and artichokes

Favorite hot dog topping: sauerkraut and mustard, or chili and sauerkraut

Appetizer of choice: calamari, bruschetta, jalapeno poppers

Dessert of choice: creme brulee, white chocolate

Favorite sushi roll: volcano (warm scallops & cream cheese atop a Califonia roll), spicy tuna or anything with eel, avocado, or tuna

Favorite city for great food: tie - Austin, TX and Denver, CO. Second place goes to Atlanta, Boston and Portland.

Favorite breakfast spot in Northeast Florida: The Metro Diner. Hard to believe it took 9 years of living in Jacksonville to discover it!

Favorite lunch spot in Northeast Florida: French Pantry

Favorite dinner spot in Northeast Florida: 1171 (now closed) and Culhane’s Irish Pub

Favorite bar fare in Northeast Florida: Kickback’s

Best dessert in Northeast Florida: tie between the homemade sorbets at Blue Bamboo and Biscotti’s cappuccino mousse pie

Favorite beer: Spaaten Optimator, La Chouffe, Magic Hat #9, Guinness
